Introduction

The Mendix Developer Bootcamp is meant for Mendix developers and consultants to be. This bootcamp is designed to kickstart their Mendix knowledge in a condensed period of time. The bootcamp is filled with lectures about a variety of topics, and after each lecture the developer will put their gained knowledge directly into practice. The aim of this bootcamp is to empower the developer with the main set of knowledge and understanding to start their developing career in a Mendix team.

After completing this bootcamp, you are eligible to take Intermediate Developer Certification exam.

Program

The bootcamp consists of 2 sprints of 2 weeks. Each sprint covers a specific set of skills and increases in complexity.

Sprint 1

The first sprint is setting the stage. You will build a Mendix app from scratch, guided by a fixed set of user stories. These will guide you through the commonly used Mendix development patterns. Starting with setting up your domain model, defining security, front-end and application logic. At the end of the first sprint you will have developed a complete stand-alone web and mobile application.

Sprint 2

Once you’ve learned how to model a good stand-alone application, it’s time to improve and extend your application, your knowledge and skills. During this sprint we will focus on modeling best practices, extendibility of a Mendix app and data processing. After this sprint you will be ready to join a Mendix team and contribute to the app development as an intermediate Mendix developer.

Throughout the entire developer bootcamp you will join a various set of lectures and workshops. These will hand you the right knowledge at the right time, related to the project you are working on.

Goals

The goal of this bootcamp is to speed up the growth of your knowledge and skills to the Mendix intermediate level, so that you can start contributing in a Mendix team right away.

You will be able to:

  • use the strengths of the Mendix platform.
  • apply Agile Scrum in a Mendix project.
  • model an application using Studio Pro.
  • model a UX friendly front-end.
  • define an effective and performing data structure in the domain model.
  • create reusable and well-performing application logic.
  • style the app using the existing classes.
  • adjust the app styling using the style editor.
  • apply the common Mendix development best-practices.
  • integrate using REST API’s.
  • implement marketplace modules.
